New fleece double layer coats added! Check them out!
Now on 2 pages - Small/Medium and a separate page for large to make it easier!
New and restocked collars - the gorgeous Kanagawa is back in stock!
Our foster dogs will now have custom made collars and a foster kit! The kit contains 2 stainless steel bowls, bedding, bedding covers, toys, lead, muzzle, fleece jacket, Westpaw Tippl and a basic first aid kit.
Traffic Light System Update
Our rehoming team are all double vaccinated and hold current vaccination passports. The validation app is currently installed on Jo's cell phone and ready for use.
Our plan going forward for homechecks is to continue to do them in person wherever possible, observing social distancing, mask wearing etc. If this is not possible we shall continue to do homechecks via Zoom.
Handovers/adoptions are trickier as we personally take the dog to the family and help settle them. This process usually takes over an hour and is a key part of our rehoming process. We would anticipate continuing with this observing once again social distancing, mask wearing etc.
Events will be conducted on a case by case basis and we would be working closely with the 'host' of the venue.
Kiwikiwi Hounds Adoption Charitable Trust - We are now a Charitable Trust
Paris (unraced) is our first adoption outside of Canterbury! We want to thank her new family for being so patient and for taking Paris into their home.
Check out our new Adoption Packs - handy to keep contract, vet book, welcoming letter and info all in one place!
We are on the look out for foster homes in Canterbury. You will need to either already have a greyhound or be greyhound savvy, You will need to provide your home, patience and your time. We provide the greyhound! We also will provide kibble, crate, coat, collar and muzzle.
Please complete our questionnaire if you feel this is something you would like to try, stating that you are interested in fostering.
Head to our Martingale Collars page for new and restocked collars!
12 months after we first launched, we have just completed our 12th adoption (although only 10 months since our first, thanks to Covid).
Whilst it's not about numbers, we are immensely proud of this and say a huge thank you to all who have helped us reach this!
Here's to our next year!
It's a New Year and hopefully a good one!
Last year, we launched our adoption programme, just before the Covid Lockdown - who knew?!
We adopted our first greyhound out at the end of June and in total, we matched eight greyhounds with their families, which we are over the moon with!
We started this year with a meet and greet on New Year's Day, so hopefully will be another greyhound in their forever home.
Not all our greyhounds make it to the website or Facebook page - some we match with their family before that happens. So please, do complete our questionnaire if you are looking to adopt - your greyhound may be already waiting!
Happy New Year to everyone that has supported us and to all those that have joined the Kiwikiwi Hound family.

Our mission is to help retired racing greyhounds find loving pet homes at the end of their racing career and to actively promote greyhounds as wonderful pets.
Working alongside other rehoming groups, we strive to individually match each dog with a family. We will offer ongoing support and guidance to all adoptive families, for however long is needed after the initial adoption.
We will be working with the Great Mates Rehoming programme, which was set up by Greyhound Racing New Zealand (GRNZ) in 2019.
The Great Mates Rehoming Programme is dedicated to rehoming more greyhounds by providing full assessments, training, grooming, vet care and de-sexing, to fully prepare each retired racing greyhound for a new life as a pet. GRNZ want to give every dog the best chance of being successfully rehomed. Therefore, every dog that enters the GRNZ Great Mates Rehoming Programme will be assessed not as a 'pass' or 'fail' but assessed in what areas they need extra training, to adjust to life as a pet. GRNZ and Nightrave Greyhounds will provide this specialist training.
